The sugar in your urine makes it easier for bacteria and fungi to grow around your genitals. To prevent infections, it’s very important to keep your genitals clean.
Wash your penis or vagina thoroughly
- Wear clean underwear daily.
- Wash your genitals daily. If you have a penis, make sure to wash underneath the foreskin.
- After you have gone to the toilet, rinse your genitals with water. Then dry yourself thoroughly.
When should you contact a doctor?
Contact your doctor if you have any of the following symptoms:
- Pain or itching around your genitals.
- Redness or swelling of the penis or vagina.
- Pain or a burning sensation when urinating.
- Pain or a burning sensation during sex.
